I took apart a spare broken Apple Pro Mouse today - not easy to do - don’t think Apple ever intended for these things to be serviced. The cord had developed a problem right where the wires go into the mouse (apparently a common issue) Disassembled the mouse, snipped the old cable and resoldered it back together. Decided I didn’t really want to spend all that time just to fix a few wires - so I painted the inner core (sounds very sci fi) and the underbelly blue.

Still no love on the 3D Fiero project reference drawings. The PFF thread hasn’t turned up any leads either. Maybe it’s time to bust out the tape measure and a noetbook! Though i always think my Fiero is crooked…. I thought it was the rear swaybar doing that after tightening it up with the wheels not under load - but I redid it correctly and it still looks crooked - maybe my eyes are crooked!

Anthrocon okay, saw this on a CSI episode (which i admit i have been watching lately) called “Fur and Loathing.” There was some talk of yiffing and skritching. Pretty weird stuff. And I thought Anime Conventions were weird!

Well, i completed my first mod on my newly acquired IBook - the Glowing Apple logo Seems to work pretty well - looks nice, even if it is upside-down. It looks like there is a space for an LED under the apple icon below the LCD screen - the metal looks perforated for removal and there is a space in the rubber spacer beneath it that looks made to house an LED. I wish I knew enough electronics to try attaching and LED without having to worry about blowing up my ibook.

for a long time I’ve been working on a 3D Fiero GT model in Cinema 4D - trouble is, when I started the project, i used photos as reference images, and I really don’t know the accuracy of those images. I’d like to find some kind of definitive reference diagrams for the fiero from the top, side, front and back. Looks like I may find that info in a Fiero Collision Manual - found on ebay for $40. Maybe the Helm’s or Factory service manuals… View the PFF thread.

It would be pretty cool to be a helicopter stunt pilot, and get hired to catch a spacecraft returning from a mission in midair!

I now have my first Mac - a 400 mhz G4 Codename Sawtooth - not blazing fast by any means, but definately somewhat zippy and lotsa fun! Also have a indigo clamshell ibook that has a crapped out hard drive and cd drive that i am going to try to resurrect. The IBook runs a PowerPC 750cx (G3) Processor

Bought one of those old retro joystick things that has 10 old school 8bit arcade games on them like Pong, Centipede, Breakout n stuff. Atari 10-in-1 and the games seem to run faster than the original versions (not that i was around to really play those myself) Well, I’m too lazy right now to research that…

So I took out the old original Nintendo, and a Super Mario 3 cartridge. The cartridge was all gunky and looked like something had nested in it or something! After some rubbing achohol and cleaning, I got it working. I never actually had my own Nintendo or any other cart game system (until PS2 - i had OS based systems like Atari ST or Commodore 64) So I always had to play Supe Mario etc at my friends’ places. Super Mario 3 is super fun!! What a classic. I think it’s time to set up a “Gaming Station” for old school game systems like ive planned for awhile.

Maybe I’ll get motivated to make my MacQuarium!

At the last Auto-X (aug 29) , David (Millenium Fiero from PFF) came down to check out the action. Pix he took that day - some of the Fiero, and other cars tooI had taken off the steering stabilizer to see if it would help steer easier — well, it worked too well! Felt like the car was all over the place. This probably has a lot to do with inexpereinced driving and we will stay with that set-up and practice at the SCCA Solo 2 test-n-tune in Sept. Plus the track was really hot that day, so our usual tire pressures may have been too high. The Fiero must do better! SCCA Hawaii has reviews of the Solo 2 events
