Covering Up a glacier with plastic and foil to stop it from melting? Ski resorts are going to get more and more desperate beacuse it i only going to get worse. The terrible thing is how the US government doesn't care about environmental protection. Such a powerful country should be becoming increasingly responsible, not the other way round. Well, that's how things have been going lately i suppose. 10 years from now it' ll be "Oh shit, we fucked up - and we can't think of any good solution" I wonder if we will have an era of EcoFear .

James Doohan, the actor who played Scotty in Star Trek passed away today. I'm sure Trekkies worldwide are very sad. At a graduation I'm attending soon, the speaker will be Sulu!

This site also has some good Ragnarok info.
RO Datazone has some stuff about game mechanics that is kinda interesting. And for more insight into how to develop a character, check out the
Skill Tree Simulator - though you'll probably want to spend some times reading guides on 'builds' before going too far with a new character - apparently choices made right away when you start a character can affect you seriously way down the line...

This neat Ragnarok
Character Simulator lets you see what your character could one day look like! And if you need help getting enough Z (Zeny = Ragnarok Currency to normal people)
RagnaMART has some good information about items etc that doesn't just repeat the descriptions in the game, but tells you special things an item is used for. Though the
ROEmpire World Map is excellent for navigating the Rag world and seeing what monsters are where. Though I've found much of the information all the sites are not always correct, so be careful!

So often I forget I have put some coffee to reheat in the microwave and find it a day later.

I thought this
Honda Gold Wing ipod remote hack was nicely documented and a good way to modify the functionality of the remote. I took mine apart today - nothing too interesting. Will have to try to think of a way to do a similar remote hack that is functional, not just for the sake of it.

I was eating my lunch today at a little shopping mall and a black H2 (Hummer) pulls over to the curb of the parking lot in a red curb area and parks. Guy gets out and goes to get some pizza. This would have bugged me if it was
any car being blatantly arrogant, but since it was already a blatantly stupid vehicle it really incensed (sp?) me. After careful consideration and scoping out the driver, I packed up my stuff and walked past the less visible side of the Hummer. With a cough or two to cover me, I slyly bombed the passenger side with a container of KFC BBQ sauce. Quite appropriately, it splattered right over the H2 logo. Nice.
I wanted to snap a shot of the 'carnage' as the drive drove off, but as it turns out he was too busy
sitting and eating! The nerve. So... no picture. Instead, check out

A roll of film taken using my little toy-like 4 lens shot sequencer. The photos came out quite interesting, with light bleeds, some very nice unexpected colors, and no real good examples of 'sequences'. Must try again.

Good movie by the same person who did The Last Emperor (which i havent seen) - beautiful shots that are very careful in their consideration of movement and balance. Another TCM gem.

To see a neighbor slowly progress from health to needing a wheelchair and having no hair is really sad thing.

Somehow I jumped from studying flame and fire, and ended up on some site promoting weird theories :
Zero Point Energy and from there went on to find out about some tiny town called
Methernitha in a remote part of Switzerland that lies in seclusion and runs their 'Christian' community with some sort of static operated electricity generator called a Testatika. Interesting stuff - Who knows if it's real science though! [

Oh yeah, fire/flame. From what I understand, a substance is heated up and then decomposes. This releases the molecules in gaseous form, which are then broken down by the heat and recombine with oxygen molecules and create some other by products. Seems to me that the 'flame' is the incandescence/color that results from some leftover carbon and other by product molecules being heated as they rise due to heat movement in gravity (up to less dense areas). The stuff left behind which dosnt itself burn is called Char (for wood burning) Heat / glow with no flame (For example Charcoal) happens because the material has already had the stuff that changes to gaseous form burned off somehow or has none present in it (stove element?), so the material itself heats and incandesces with no flame.
Will have to look more into this to make sure I understand correctly how it all fits together.
Some info I found about this that seems to confirm that this is basically how it works

American Museum of Natural History. Looks worth a visit!
