Skateboarding is a Crime
Posted on November 5th, 2005
I bought a skateboard recently to make my walk to work quicker. About a week later, a coworker warned me that skateboarding might not be allowed! What?! Turns out, skateboarding IS a Crime in San Francisco - on sidewalks in business districts during work hours, at night, and anytime on roads. Seems like people are determined to stop skateboarders in this city - most buildings have anti-grinding measures installed on grind-able surfaces. A neat implementation of this is on Embarcadero where sculpted metal sea creatures 'hang out' on conrcrete ledges (and purposely conveniently, hinder grinding) On another note, a curious side effect of this legislation is that Segways aren't allowed either. Ha ha! Not as if anyone bought one anyway.
