Pantone != RGB

Posted on November 8th, 2005

Adult Swim keeps on using a 'color key' on its signature 'text on black' info spots when they present their sunday lineup. My problem with their color key is that they reference the tones as Pantone colors. As any graphic designer will tell you, Pantone colors are specific hue formulas that cannot be duplicated in RGB (TV color space) or in CMYK (Print color space) and so of course, their use of Pantone colors is really dumb. Considering they seem to be quite a graphic design-oriented production crew, I am suprised at their ignorance.
