Google Maps Spotting
Posted on January 26th, 2006
I was none too impressed by this article about the "flying car" spotted on Google Maps in Australia. Whatta loada hootennanny. I was much more intrigued however, by the shot of a British Lancaster bomber flying over homes in England. Now that is pretty random. I wonder if you took the entire G maps imagery, how many snapshots of planes would occur, and what would turn out as the most frequently accidentally photographed from orbit? How deep is a satellite photo's depth of field? Would a plane at a fairly high altitude become an out of focus smudge? Plane photo-recognition software anyone?
