CSI Foley Antics
Posted on January 27th, 2006
I grind teeth together whenever I hear a dot matrix printer sound used for a modern inkjet printer on CSI. For a show that likes to think it's using cutting edge special effects to look cool, I think that's pretty sad. Well, it turns out that their foley artist doesn't restrict themselves to only dot matrix printers to shape the sonic mind-scape (yuh huh, you heard me!) of the CSI lab... Some of the Miami lab's 'New fancy gear' sounds just like a Spectrum ZX - an early computer in the era of Amiga & Atari ST. Jeez, everything these days is retro-modern ;) Interested how sounds are foleyed?
