Nevaeh is a hot new name for girls. Pronounced “Neh-VAY-ah”, it is “heaven” spelt backwards, and has been adopted by a whole horde of families across America ever since Christian rock star, Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D. named his daughter the heavenly name. I like the NY Times’ joke title “And if It’s a Boy, Will It Be Lleh?”

monochrom asked a bunch of austrian people to draw some brands’ logos from memory - some were international, some were european. the resulting sketches are quite humorous. it’s interesting to see old logos that are still in the public consciousness, as well as the strength of some logos over others. I wonder what the sketches for Nike would have looked like.

This is what happens when you can outsource your labor to web workers. The Sheep Market paid $.02 for 10,000 people to draw sheep online. The results were then posted online, along with the ability to see hoe each sheep was drawn. They were recruited through Amazon’s Mechanical Turk. This seems to be a fascinating new way of farming out work. Hmmm, I wonder what I can pay 100 people $.01 to do?

I wouldn’t call myself a pyromaniac - but the accusation has been leveled that I enjoy playing with fire a little too much. And my love of all things LED / blinky / bright has been well documented. So the Infernoptix quite nicely fulfilled both of those interests. Take the idea of a LED scroller/display and use fire instead. The result is quite impressive - down to the mean sounds the machine makes when in operation. I’m not quite so sure about the dancing man raving to the god of fire - but it does add a humor variable. Make it bigger, make the ‘refresh rate’ faster and I’ll take one! Check out the vids past the jump.
