Boing Boing posted about the genius ukelele playing of Roy Smeck. It’s a wonderful performance! As for contemporary musicians, Jake Shimabukuro is well known in Hawaii for his fast-paced ukelele playing. While I’m not particularly a fan of ukelele music, I was pretty blown away by the speed of his playing, getting faster and faster each time! His hand just becomes a youtubey blur he’s playing so fast! (Doesn’t quite have the same kooky classy factor as Smeck though)

The Pig and the Box is a wonderful children’s fable that takes an anti-DRM stance. Created in response to such cartoon mascots as Captain Copyright, it is the tale of a selfish Pig that won’t let his neighbor’s use his magical ‘copying’ box. LLLLOLIPOP JONES!

PingMag has an article about Gex Fry: “In 2002 Gez Fry decided, that he wants to make a living out of Japanese style illustration - without being experienced in drawing. Locking himself up in his bedroom in London he studied big masters like Masamune Shirow and developed enough skill and an astonishing portfolio to jump into the big market - within only 2 years. Here are some of his comments about how he draws, develops characters and why the Japanese Manga market is so tough.”
