The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was a super-fun anime. This concert segment is definately a highlight within the story when you are familiar with the characters and especially how out-of-the-blue this performance is.
As always, I’m a sucker for high speed photography. Check out these colorful high speed photography ‘water figures’ and learn how they setup the cameras etc at the bottom. Or get the scoop from Make mag on DIY strobe photography.
Reminiscent of a weird Katamari Ball, this 16 foot ball of jeans looks like it’s supposed to be saying less about the fun game, and perhaps more about being chained to American culture.
What happens when you take the retro classic like Asteroids and pump it up on adrenaline and fast computers? Geometry Wars for XBox. Don’t have an XBox? No problem, Mark Incitti has made Grid Wars 2, a superb clone of the game in Blitz Basic and it is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux. The gameplay is fast-paced and addictive - it’s been a while since I’ve been so enthralled by such a simple game. The premise is the same as Asteroids - destroy everything. get powerups for better weapons. The really cool thing is the Grid. I won’t claim to completely understand how the game works, but there seems to be a grid that represents gravity, and it is warped by any object on the game field. The controls are unusual - you set your direction of fire independent of your movement direction. An in-depth review is here Hard to explain - just download and check it out (before the XBox peeps get the clone taken offline)
