The PEPCON Plant Explosion
Another great article from Damn Interesting about the explosion of a rocket fuel plant - the magnitude of which showed up on seismographs and caused damage to a town more than a mile away. To top it off, the incident was caught on video - massive shockwaves and all!

Rubik’s Pixel Art

Hook Box
The Hook Box by Luca Nichetto is a nice solution to the landing pad issue where people have common things they unload / pick up at the entrance to their place. The hook box lets you store stuff, hang things, and looks pretty decent too. Seems that this is still a concept piece - I would like this to be put into production.

Capgras’ Syndrome
I’m always fascinated by diseases that alter a person’s perception so convincingly that they see or hear a world different than the rest of us. Damn Interesting has an article on Capgras’ Syndrome, a mental disease where people believe close friends / family / pets / objects are being replaced by duplicates - and the originals taken away. As if this wasn’t eerie enough, sometimes sufferers even think their own reflection is a copy of themselves.

Attack of the Mooninites
I used to watch Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming block before it got too full of itself and popped like a nasty zit. But I have to admit that Aqua Teen Hunger Force Mooninites being mistaken for terrorist devices and being detonated by bomb squads is gooooood shit! The ATHF Guerilla Campaign borrows heavily from the Graffiti Research Lab, using magnetic LED grids to spam 8bit terror to the residents of Boston. Youtube vid past the link.
