Bordbar takes decommissioned airline food service carts, gives them a stylish makeover, and sells them to the likes of us. I wonder if it's possible to find surplus / old carts such as these to do a DIY version?
Perfume, a terribly cute pop singer trio from Japan, is releasing their Polyrhythm single in September. The video is interesting, and features the usual homebrew looking choreography. The song ain't bad - their usual catchy happy dance-pop. I <3 Perfume!
Frogs occasionally deal with severe indigestion by ejecting their whole stomach organ to the outside of their body and cleaning it with their legs. Yum. Skip to 1 min in for the fun part. Courtesy of the wonderful Japanese show 'Trivia no Izumi'
PingMag article about the career of Manga Translator. It addresses some interesting facets of the translation such as how translation is handled when typography is used as a part of the composition instead of just in dialog / narrative.

I've always wanted to be able to do super technical nerdy things like magic tricks, being able to solve a rubik's cube, and picking locks. The Beginners Guide To Lock Picking might be a good place to start for the least wholesome of the three (though magic can be quite tasteless...)
The Bacon Tomb is the kind of nasty, gross experiment that I would try. Put bacon and an egg into sealed acrylic containers. Observer for a year. Do not eat.
Recently got our new home entertainment equipment. With much unboxing joy, fun setting up, and grueling waiting for cable guys - it's HD, surround sound, DVR heaven. Here's the list with some quick reviews.
Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U - 1080p LCD screen. Looks wonderful once you turn off the ughzzz factory settings. Nice blacks, crisp HD, no blur problems - no banding reported by others.
Onkyo HT-SR800 - 7.1 Surround Home Theatre in a Box. Has a cool feature where you place a microphone in the listening zones and it configures your EQ and levels for your room acoustics. Sounds fabulous!
Slimdevices Squeezebox - Streaming mp3s from server, internet radio, open source. Sweet solution for digital music junkies.
Philips dvp642 - Still using my old DVD player since it plays almost any AVI I throw at it (great for watching torrents burned to DVD) - will upgrade to a HD player once the price for those goes down.
Comcast HD Receiver / DVR (Motorola DCT 3416) - My only gripe in the whole setup. User interface response is really cumbersome. Device itself is really loud. Does, however, work fine as a DVR / HD receiver.
Logitech Harmony 890 - This is the glue that brings it all together! I love this remote! Let's you control your whole system from one remote, Activites based workflow makes for crazy ease of use, computer-based setup allows for quick but powerful customization of buttons. Top it off with RF capabilities so you can stash all your gear inside a cabinet for a super clean setup! Bye bye 5 remotes!
You3b is a weird beta online 'mashup' site that lets you choose 3 Youtube videos to play simultaneously. I guess juxtaposition is the simplest form of editing!
This ad / short for Louis Vuitton is by Mamoru Hosoda. Girl meets Superflat panda (Based on the character by Takashi Murakami) and gets sucked into an Alice in Wonderland style LV world. It's super kawaii, with adorable music by Fantastic Plastic Machine - "Different Colors"
Occhiali is a line of glasses by Sugar Kane that are asymmetrical. They're not as strange looking as I thought they'd be - perhaps due to their model's unusual styling. I probably wouldn't wear them since I don't have a crazy haircut and am a symmetrical being ^.^
The Tate Modern has an interesting exhibit on show that displays the population densities of Global Cities using layered plywood to represent every extra 200 people per sq. km. It's very interesting how different some cities look - I wonder if the various cities are to built to scale with each other.
