The new Dodge Challenger is the latest example of the American auto industry’s lack of originality through remaking classic cars. It’s subjective, but this one is perhaps not quite as offensive as some of the others (Mustang, Charger) but still is a bit of a cop out. I’m excited when they reach all the way back and remake the Model-T.
I’m going to have to go to Union square to see if the tiny tiny billboard for Spore is still up. Hope so, since the game comes out today (on a Sunday. The 7th day (of September)) hmmmm Intentional joke?
Someone has posted a video of how the Apple Newton did copy/paste, as a suggestion on how the iPhone should achieve this task. I’m not sure it’s the right answer, but it does make me wonder if the iPhone should have customizable sound effects! I want my OS X sound palette on my iPhone :) We’ll see Tuesday if we get copypaste and if so, how they are doing it. The UX world will be all abuzz.
Wayne Hale of NASA posts an interesting article to his blog about shutting down the shuttle and the logistical nightmare of keeping this old technology going.
Move over Large Hadron Collider - Japan’s Large Helical Device is in the house! Check out this wonderful photo. I think any experiment as big as a building is rad - but if it happens to be a beautiful helical design that creates mini-stars on earth, then bonus! (Don’t worry LHC, we still <3 you)
The Large Helical Device (LHD) project involves construction of the world’s largest superconducting helical device, which employs a heliotron magnetic field originally developed in Japan. The objectives are to conduct fusion-plasma confinement research in a steady-state machine and to elucidate important research issues in physics and engineering for helical plasma reactors.
