The World’s First Wave Farm Goes Live in Portugal. Inhabitat has a post about the wave farm that uses the undulating motion of waves to shove hydraulic rams and generate power. It all seems very “We are now in the future” . (But maybe it’s just the fact they numbered the wave energy converters with big yellow numbers in a retro sci-fi chunky typeface.) Net Hotels
CNN has a video article (preceded by annoying mandatory 30 sec ad) about the rise of “Net hotels” in Japan. These are living spaces of a scale between capsule hotels and Japanese business hotel rooms. They have just enough space for a few days worth of clothes, a computer, and somewhere to sleep. This niche market caters to the Japanese unemployed who may have lost their homes and property due to bankruptcy etc. Japan sure knows how to sell things to very tagreted demographics.
