I sure hope the concept of the Adobe Light-Field Camera makes it to market, and soon - because it’s pretty darn rad. Images that retain 3d / depth information after exposure!

The news that Wal-Mart will only sell Blu-ray exclusively in June seems like the final blow for the struggling HD-DVD format already smacked in the face by Netflix and Best Buy. The format war looks to be ending, which makes me happy as I can now get a player without worrying it will become obsolete. Who will be next to jump ship?

While working on my music, I kept hearing the blipping and gurgling of cell phone interference in my speakers. Grrrrr. Thinking about a Mythbusters episode and Faraday cages that stop electromagicnetic waves - I did some research and found a solution. Take tin foil, and wrap phone completely in it. Done! Worked like a charm ![]()

While chillin with some friends in expensive suits on the moon, drinking cosmos - if you watched the brilliant marble called Earth rise over the distant, dull and dusty horizon and gazed on it for a couple hours, you couldn’t help but marvel at the fact that it was gracefully spinning endlessly in the blackness of space.
“The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) have successfully performed the world’s first high-definition image taking of an Earth-rise by the lunar explorer KAGUYA which was injected into a lunar orbit at an altitude of about 100 km on October 18, 2007″
Feeling somewhat thoughtful after seeing the super-cool (unfortunately not HD) video of the earth rising, I wrote the little bit above. The interesting thing is that when I fully read the JAXA page, it said:
“* Note: we use the expression “Earth-rise” in this press release, but the Earth-rise is a phenomenon seen only from satellites that travel around the Moon, such as the KAGUYA and the Apollo space ship. The Earth-rise cannot be observed by a person who is on the Moon as they can always see the Earth at the same position.”
So in reality, the Earth would just hang in mid-no-air, spinning away in pretty much the same place in the not-sky all not-day.

I’ve always wanted to be able to do super technical nerdy things like magic tricks, being able to solve a rubik’s cube, and picking locks. The Beginners Guide To Lock Picking might be a good place to start for the least wholesome of the three (though magic can be quite tasteless…)

The WOW Armory is the type of great resource every online game should have. To have that information accessible to coders through an API is even better. Check out some of the nice tools being coded to check out guild data.
