
Me and my better half have been chatting of late about the security of
shredding documents. My stance was that it shouldn't be impossible to digitally reassemble shredded docs - though it might be time consuming. Cross-cutting would make things much more difficult. A quick search turned up this
New York Times article that makes it clear unshredding is not only feasible, but already offered as a service (for a pretty penny) Now, I would be interested if there is a market for an open-source/freeware unshredder software. One obstacle would be the best method to scan in the strips, or bits. What about those biz card scanners? I guess no matter how you set it up, there's some serious scanning grunt-work in store.
