Unusual Aviation Pictures

This site features Unusual Aviation Pictures. Above is a shot from the "Spectacular Approaches" page of Simpson Bay, St. Martin - a Dutch and French island. The Juliana International Airport on the teeny island is right next to it's high-traffic Caribbean beaches and planes make a hair raisingly low approach over the beach. Other interesting shots include landing at 45 degrees (supposedly normal) and whacking your engine on the ground (not normal).

Seeing this photo reminds me of when I was young and my father took me to the end of Heathrow Airport's runway to watch Concorde take off. The roar of its engines was incredible - and so was the sight of the magnificent plane flying into the distance. The kinda stuff that inspires kids to become pilots (well, not me - I must be weird)
